I think he's a bit of a clown. Whether we need that or not I don't know.

Doesn't strike me as a black and white guy at all. He says he is, but I've had coaches like him and they like to play games a little bit for their own enjoyment. I'm not saying it's good or bad, sometimes it can keep players on their toes. It all depends on what kind of players you're dealing with. I never responded well to that type of coaching. You ask the football players and they say they love bo and co because they always know where they stand. Whether we need that or not...

I'll support the guy because he's it.

He's about what I expected NU to hire actually. A coach who took his mid-major team to the NCAA tournament.
T.O. paid a bit more than I expected considering CSU got dumped in the 1st round. I figured $1.2 mil for something like that and $1.4 mil (tops) with a 1st round NCAA tourney win, $1.6 for a Sweet 16 (of which T.O. would never pay).

I still feel Doc got too much credit for taking UTEP to the tourney his first year as their coach. The team he took was Billy Gillispie's team. In his second year he had 7 fewer wins and only an NIT bid.

This Miles guy inherited absolute shit and improved year in and year out from CBI to NIT and then the NCAA tournament. That's worthy of opportunity considerably less a gamble than sticking with Sadler.

I would also much rather have a guy like Miles than a Dana Altman for the same moneys.

i completely agree. i will admit, at first, i was not very excited about this. but after his press conference, i started to feel a bit better about it. the one thing that gives me hope is his recruiting from FREAKING CSU in the state of Nebraska. Omaha Central was one of the top teams in the country this year...Miles should start recruiting Akoy Agau immediately.

I was second guessing firing Doc last week, BEFORE hiring Miles. Now I'm excited about what we have and I'm really looking forward to seeing him turn this program around.

I just think that all the stars were lined up for us to make a impact hire (BIG NAME) with balls of steel that would help draw in some heavy recruits... I will hope for the best here but I suspect I will have to take the wait and see approach. But then again, it's roundball and thats not my sport of choice....
