Heinicke supposedly has improved his arm strength. I hope he has eliminated the high sailing throws and the batted balls at the LOS.

Like it or not we now have a dual threat QB. It's on Scott to use that. Roll outs, read option, QB draws, bootlegs........etc

We'll see if Scott will or is even capable enough to adjust the playbook and add some of that in there.

Nothing freezes the defense and elimates a blitz like the read option or at least the threat of it.

I want to see Howell too. Really, we have to see Howell before the season is over. Does he know the offense? I think his legs are just as good with a bigger arm.

Any chance Ron loses a portion of the locker room by passing over Heinicke for a rookie 5th rounder?
I guess that's a possibility as some might view going with Howell as giving up or playing for draft position. But if a player is thinking along those lines. He should also remember that TH had more than ample opportunity to show what he can do last year and while he didn't embarrass himself or anything. His limitations and how far he could take the team as its starting QB certainly became apparent.

I can't argue with any of this. Based on previous experience with the Redskins/Football Team however, I would expect Howell to get shellshocked like Patrick Ramsey did, Jason Campbell did, and Alex Smith did (actually, AS just got rocked he didn't hear footsteps), before I would expect the Commanders to be able to formulate a rational opinion about Howell.

For proof, see Oline.
For further proof see free agent signees.
For even more proof, see Wentz trade.
Heh. And therin lies the problem. If the brain trust is faulty, incapable or just plain shitty. How can one expect anything good to come from it.

I'm don't want to come across as a Heinicke guy, because I'm far from that, but the team was rolling before covid and injures hit.

Howell is a 5th round pick and for a reason . As it stands you have to go with Falco .

I want to see Howell before the season ends but right now while he playoffs are still alive you have to go Falco

I think a 5th round pick trumps a UDFA and remember Cousins in the 4th and some guy named Brady in the 6th.
I don't think Heinicke went from an 85 mph fastball to a 97 mph fastball.

All that said I think they should go with Taylor right now. He knows the offense. If it comes down to the last 3 or 4 weeks and they are out of playoffs then go to Howell.

Patrick Ramsey used to get hit so hard, I would feel it through the TV. WOW...

Yeah, Taylor played alright the winning win streak. 7 TD passes, only 2 INTS no lost fumbles, QB rating of 100+ in 3 of the 4 games. Had the record at .500 with 4 wins in a row. The defense was playing well, legitimately well even, and Gibson toted the rock 24, 19, 29 n 23 times. The most carries any RB has had this year was Robinson's 17.

But all that was destroyed in a half against Dallas, which I believe we all agreed upon or most of us anyway, that it was that game which was the real rubber hits the road game. And once again, when a Skins team could've really shown something with a victory, they went out and got their ass kicked up n down the field.

And what is all this talk of playoffs? For what?J Just to drop far enough in the draft to be unable to get an impact player? And then what? Sign Taylolr to anothewr contract? Hold onto Wince, not hold on to Wince? Have Wince n Talyor battle it out for the starting gig? Still have no idea whether Howell may or may not be an NFL QB? Draft another DT with the highest pick they have? What's this playoff game plan look like? Maybe Tayler's arm is stronger. Has his ability to progress through his reads improved? He had some accuracy issues at times last year as well. Is that better? Does he still fancy himself a gunslinger in the Bret Farve mode? His arm ain't improved that much I'd wager.

I have no illusions that this team makes the playoffs. It's just nice to have a reason to watch. The 500. seasons are setting this team back. Gives false hope and keeps us from solving the QB position.

The second Cowboys game was over before it started. Everyone was out and I think we had just played on that Tuesday. No excuse for that showing, but that inactive list was long.

I'd be surprised is Wentz is here next year. My fear is they are gonna throw the bag a Cooper Rush.

We need to find out if Howell can play, but it's asking a lot of Ron to skip over TH because us fans feel we know what he is. Heinicke has the respect of that locker room.

I think you have to give TH the first shot at things and then move to Howell if things don't work out. Ron isn't worried about next year and Howell. He's probably not sure he's even gonna be here next year.

100%.

Scott Turner should know exactly what he has with TH, and adjust the plan accordingly, just as kbso said.

Asking TH what he likes to run is a good start. Then building concepts off of the 10-20 plays TH likes to run. It shouldnt be so hard.

For fucks sale, there are probably 10 plays or so already in the offense just for this inevitability.

Start with those.

If they could have only lost to the Bears so I could relax for the rest of the season. Four weeks is not a long time. Wentz is gonna be back. That's gonna be a big decision for Ron if TH can tread water.

When the games won't mean shit and half the team could already be checked out thinking about where to go on vacation. Or how to get traded or cut from this abortion of a team. By then RR will for sure be fired and the new HC is stupid enough, crazy enough or desperate enough to take the job.............and the beat goes on............

Not if he's a baller. A baller could rally the team n save RR's job. The latter not being of any great significance. RR's been a terrible coach.

you are asking a 5th round rookie to be a baller right away . i think he can be a baller (or at least a very good BU ) but i think as long as you are still mathematically still in it you have to give falco the 1st crack at it
