Who do you guys think has the best shot of winning the WS and why?

I gotta say this year it's really anyone's game... just depends on whoever enters the postseason on fire.

My prediction: Detroit Tigers over the St.Louis Cardinals in 6 games.

Next picks: Red Sox and Doyers

Can't sleep on the Rangers either... Rios has been huge for them and Darvish is scary to face in the postseason. Losing Cruz really hurts them though...

I'm still hesitant to say Boston, but if Buchholz pitches like last night, and Middlebrooks/Bogaerts/Bradley add to the offense, they could have a great shot.

Middlebrooks has looked a lot better since getting recalled. He already has more walks in the 2nd half than he did in the 1st and he's not striking out as much.

Last year, Josh Donaldson was completely overwhelmed in the 1st half. Then he got recalled and he also showed a lot of improvement in the 2nd half. He's been one of the best 3B in baseball this year. Not that I think WMB will have that kind of breakout, but I could see him batting around .270/.325/.495 next year. I'd take that from 3B.

How has Bogaerts looked recently? I haven't checked his stats for a couple weeks now... and I agree with Buchholtz... if he starts pitching like he did before the injury then that's a huge boost to the pitching staff.

Wouldn't surprise me one bit either... it really comes down to which team gets hot right about NOW heading into the playoffs. I still think DET/BOS and STL/LAD gotta be the favorites from each league.

Bogaerts is 8-24 with 1 BB, 3 strikeouts, a double and a HR. He hasn't gotten much playing time (10 games, but he's only started 6. A few at SS and a few at 3B). He had a line of .297/.388/.477 between AA and AAA.

not bad at all... small sample of course with him sharing PT with Drew and whoever else. Is he only playing SS or are they using him in multiple positions as a utility bench type of guy for now?
