Comeds
Unreliable Narrator.
First of all I like the current NHL playoff format just fine. Its OK, but it could be better. I mean, in the regular season we all get a kick out of 4 on 4 OTs and the shootout. Plus the three point games are fun. So why exclude a lot of the things we like from the playoffs? It doesn't make sense. So first up, fix that. Have the same OT rules in both the regular season and the playoffs.
The next idea is my own, a way to tweak the series format so we can all enjoy it a bit more. Dig if you will the picture - instead of a best of 7 series - the first team to get to 7 points wins the series.
4 wins = 8 points Team advances.
3 wins / 1 OT loss = 7 points Team Advances!
7 OT losses = 7 Points Team Advances!
Any combination of 2 point wins and 1 point OT losses that add up to 7 points and that team advances.
It sucks that a team can lose in double OT and not have anything to show for it. No more. It sucks that a game can got late and affect people's bed times. No more!
I am still thinking about a few details of this plan before I send it to Commissioner Ziegler. I hope you all Luke it.
