Not that I don't think it would be successful but I can't see an NHL team ever being place there. Why on earth would they build an arena that big? What else could it be good for? World Juniors once every 10 years? Marlies perhaps?

The arena in KC makes a ton of money. In fact they speculated that by having a pro team move in as an anchor tenant they would actually lose money. You could host tourneys but I think the real money is in either concerts, circuses, and disney on ice type events.

If there are enough people to support it you could have the place packed regularly. It would just take some aggresive marketing/booking people.

this

There was similar talk about MTS Centre in Winnipeg. If I remember correctly they were the 18th most profitable arena in 2008 across North America and thats without any major pro sports team

at this point, I think it would be a good business venture for these dudes ... its not the middle of nowhere like a Sunrise florida or Glendale Arizona and something like 7 million people live within a close drive. Build it and have the concerts and other shows and wait til the NHL comes calling

because they will ... when you have so many franchises in trouble and dwindling relocation options they will ("they will come Ray")

Wow, 19,500. That is almost big enough to fit both Rob Ford's ego and stupidity...almost
