The first two of the new series were awesome. The originals were great, but the new ones approach it differently and provide a lot greater depth.

It certainly could have been much, much worse. Just go back and watch the hot monkey love tension crap between Wahlberg and Helen Bonham Carter for reference.

I know that your "thing" is to come here and make a blank statement degrading new movies, but you certainly fall short on this one.

I liked the first one ok with Mark Wahlberg and then the next one alright.
But after that it just went downhill for me.
Those movies never created a them vs us plot. I just didn't care which side won. I didn't care if any of them lived or died.

It was pretty boring.

The abortion with Wahlberg wanting to bone a monkey and returning to the statue of Ape Lincoln is NOT part of the current series.

Sorry, but the fact that you don't know that really makes me skeptical of any thoughts you have on this issue.

I like the last two movies, but this third one, from the previews, just doesn't make me wanna go to the theater to watch it. I can't quite put my finger on it as to why.

It was alright. The ending wasn't the greatest. But I guess being the first remake I just was interested more in it than what followed.

Agreed that the originals got worse as the series continued and you are certainly entitled to your own opinion on the new series. I was just expressing concern over your inability to seperate the current series from the Tim Burton remake as it makes me question how much attention you have actually paid to the current series. It makes it harder to take your post at face value when the facts are rather far off.
But no big deal. I will watch the third one regardless.
