As we have all noticed ... the game is changing Just watched the end of the NYY and Astros game. The Astros threw a no hitter. Starter went 7 innings. 13Ks 115 pitches. Two relievers finished up.

I hate the NYY so i watched the end of the game.
Not going to see many complete game no hitters moving forward. Pitching just doesn't seem to support that any more

Javier was at 115 pitches through 7. No way was he going the distance. I think that is due to pitchers concentrating on the K more than anything else (he had 13 Ks in the game). They aren’t being efficient anymore. Granted, hitters could be a cause of this as well.

I mentioned a while back (I think it was on the MLB general board) that I just don’t care about combined no-no’s. They do literally nothing for me. But I think single pitcher no-no’s are essentially a thing of the past.

I agree. Single pitcher no-hitters are special and becoming more rare. Multiple pitcher no-hitters were the rarity in the early 90s when the Braves did it (which seems especially ironic, considering that they had a juggernaut starting rotation) and it was a novelty. Now? Not so much.
