Does Bedard get his first win? Does he get any run support? Can he go 7 innings? Can we get a hit from Pedro?

Let's go Bucs!

I would actually bet on the first two and not the third.

He is yet to advance one baserunner in any at bat except himself on the HR.

I see a nice comfortable win today 6-1, 7-2 type, and a couple of bombs in the thin desert air.

I wish I could be there...

Go Bucs!

I also see Pedro going 0-fer in this series because Collimenter is on my fantasy team, and he's not starting any of the games. :D

Because I live in Tucson, I can't watch the Arizona series on my mlb.tv account. I got this thing because I don't have cable, darn it!

Why are we so bad? :tsk:

They cannot hit to save their lives. As a team through ten games, the Bucs rank dead last in average, on base percentage, slugging percentage and OPS.

They had an opportunity to put the screws into Arizona in the first inning, and all they could do was scratch out one measly run. Cutch is the only bat in the lineup that is doing anything. Presley is doing all right, too.... but that's it. Two guys :tsk:

edit: Mcgehee is showing signs of life....

We gotta get Alvarez out of the lineup. Tabata needs to be spelled more often until he gets it going. McKenry should be starting several times a week until Barajas shows a pulse. If Harrison can play shortstop adequately now, he should get a few starts a week there. Gotta try to find a hot hand, because obviously most of the starters suck ass.

I bought mlb.tv about 5 years ago. I live 3.5 hours away from Pittsburgh. After I bought it none of the games would play because I was in a blackout area.

I don't know what they expected me to do about that. I assumed that the extra innings package would've been blacked out as well for the same reason even if I'd had the inclination to pay that much (not a chance)
Did they expect me to drive 4 hours every time I wanted to see a game?

Yeah, Barajas and Barmes are doing SFA. I'm just hoping they're shaking off the early season rust, because... damn, they need both of those guys to produce. It can't be an offense of McCutchen, Presley and Walker, all season.

And Presley's only been good comparatively...

We cannot have mediocre at best (which is what I classify a .275 or so average of all singles to be) be our second best performance and expect to win.

Garrett MotherFucker Jones had a heck of a game.

1. Marte CF
2. McCutchen LF
3. Walker 2B
4. Jones RF
5. McGehee 3B
6. Hague 1B
7. Navarro - SS
8. McKenry - C

That's what I'd like to see a hell of a lot more of.
Then in a few years maybe - if everything comes up roses:

1. Marte - CF
2. McCutchen - LF
3. Bell - RF
4. An alternate universe version of Alvarez that actually mashes the ball - 3B
5. Dickerson - 1B
6. Walker - 2B
7. Sanchez - C
8. Alen Hanson (pray for it!)

I wouldn't mind having Presley or Tabata around on the bench. Both know hitting, both are good defensive players, both are capable of getting hot, and both are good baserunners.

Basically, what you want from bench guys.

But they're too similar to keep both in that capacity, and Tabata's under contract, so I imagine in that scenario, they would flip Presley.

And are you as high on Dickerson as I am? I think he's going to be a pretty decent hitter down the road.

No I'm not really high on Dickerson. I think there's a decent chance that he'll be a competent 1B for us at some point in the near future. I am hoping for an OPS in the .800s and splits close enough that we don't feel the need to platoon him.

You might notice that he was 4 for 5 tonight, but you might also notice that he doesn't have a single extra-base hit this year. He's a decent prospect but he's got a ways to go.

I would like him better if he could play another position, but if he can manage an OPS in the .800s, that's a huge upgrade for us regardless of comparison to other first basemen in the league. The more upgrades we can get from our own system the better.

But I don't expect to see him for another three years anyway.

we will have plenty of pitching and OF,
walker is good as a role player.
we need to package some excess pitching and OF for 2 corner studs. we probably need to do it soon while those studs are 22-23, while their price is lower than it will be when they produce at the higher levels of AAA or mlb. so our scouts need to identify who is our excess (jones, presley, tabata, grossman, gorkys, resop, locke, owens, etc) and package 3 or 4 for 1.
it really is the scouts who will identify who we can sell high on and what 2 corner infielders will be hitting their potential starting in 14 or 15 that we can buy relatively low now.
then a hague or dickerson or mcgehee, presly can be bench/role players.
