I figure big underdogs in first two and big favorites in last two. We need a healthy Marte back and it is becoming painful that first base and right field are serious black holes in the lineup. At this point I would love them to give Polanco a shot. He would already be a defensive upgrade and he can't possibly be any worse than what we are getting.

Cutch is locked in right now. And that was a pretty swing by Pedro to follow. But we didn't score, and that's disappointing.

Cain took a comebacker off the wrist. That's not good to see. But for the Pirates, him leaving might be a bad thing. They've hit everything he's offered hard all over the ballpark. Jones put one in San Francisco Bay.

Jeff Locke is flaming out hard in the second half. Might not be a bad idea to skip a start for him. This is still his first full season, and as Walk was pointing out, he looks mentally overmatched right now. His command is getting worse as well.

Yeah, and they probably have one or two SP's in AAA who could pick up some slack. Jeff has had an outstanding run this year, he just needs to get his head right and brush up the mechanics.

Wow, wow, wow. Perfect!

You keep pace with the Cards and the Giants drop a whole game behind the Padres to secure the cellar.

You got someone in the 'pen who can come in and pitch some garbage innings?

He's on the hill as we speak. Jeanmar Gomez has filled that role quite a bit this season.

Yeah, solid win to stay a game up on the Cards and help the Padres stay out of the cellar for another night. A sweep would be marvelous. :D

So I heard Bob Walk talking last night stating that he was watching a local Padre game feed. The question to the Padre fans was which team do they want to win the NL Central and it was well over 80% that wanted the Bucco's. I guess we can call San Diego -> Pittsburgh West?

Anyone have news on why Locke left early or was it just to preserve him? If the later they should just truly skip or push a start back.

I got the impression Hurdle didn't trust him not to blow the game, he already made the decision to pull him before they scored 7 runs in the 5th. Then they scored 7, but Jenmar was already warmed up, and he didn't want him to sit back down at that point.

I agree, they need to skip him, he is awful right now.
