Gun Control,,,,not likely
they are now tied with the Cards,,,,I hope they can stop the bleeding,it would be nice to make the playoffs again
I have been making these posts in the "magic number" thread, but it seems more appropriate to post them here..... and to avoid further pollution of Illinest's original intent. (Hope that thread outlasts this one..... and that the Pirates break the CLS.)
- Since the 100-game mark, the Pirates are 7-11 (.389). If they maintain that pace through season's end, they will finish at 82-80.
- In those 18 games, the pitching staff has given up 109 runs (averaging over 6 runs per game).
- The Pirates have given up at least 5 runs for 10 consecutive games.
In my view, the Pirates and Burnett were lucky to win this one and avoid a sweep by the Dodgers. Still hoping for a resurgence of the pitching staff, I'm kind of disappointed that they optioned Locke back to AAA. Seems that he might have given the starting staff a lift.
After taking 2 of 3 from the Cards in their house, might the Pirates' slide be over?
Since the 100 game mark, the Pirates are 9-12 (.429).
- If they continue at that pace through season's, they'll finish with 85 wins.
- If they play .500 ball between now and season's end, they'll finish with 88 wins.
- If they match their winning percentage for the season so far (67-54, .554), they'll finish with 90 wins.
The Pirates gave up a total of 9 runs in the 3 games against St. Louis. Since the 100 game mark, they have given up 118 runs in 21 games, for an average of 5.62 runs per game.
A sweep by the "lowly" Padres..... looks like the slide is continuing:
- The pitching staff has given up 132 runs in the 24 games since the 100-game mark (5.5 runs per game.)
- The Pirates are 9-15 (.375) in those 24 games.
- If they continue at that pace through season's end, they will finish at 81-81.
- If they play .500 ball from here on out, they will finish at 86-76.
This team is in dire need of a winning streak.
Brewers.
I'm still not worried.
I have no basis for not being worried, but I have too many other things about which to be worried, so I won't be worried about the Pirates.
