I attended a race, may have been the 2014 race that ended under yellow, where Castroneves lost out to Hunter. And it’s just unsatisfying when your watching a race for a few hours, and sh happens and the cars get closed up and it’s an all-new race to the finish. Maybe ban finishing under the yellow.
Yea jvett. This time, the Indy 500 officials Red-Flagged the event after the Jimmy Johnson crash to assure that there was at least a couple of Green Flag racing laps left even though this 500 did finish under Yellow with Ericsson out front. The only logical resolution would be to do the Green/White/Checkered approach of NASCAR. That has been suggested to IndyCar but the governing body declined the proposal especially for the Indy 500.
BTW. If they did do the G/W/C approach, Ericsson was going to win this race anyways because his car was just too dominant for O'Ward even though I get your point.
