The F-1 season has returned and this is the first of two races in Austria at the Red Bull Ring Spielberg in Styria. All of the rules for this competition that we began the season with are still in force. If you need a refresher, go back to that Pick The Podium post and review. We shall see who emerges dominant after the long lay-off in this abbreviated 2020 season

The burning question on this board is: Who will earn their second championship among the contenders of BSF and Hank or will 43 finally break through for his first? Should be another fun and challenging season and we shall see who hoists the final title.

Hamilton makes it 1-2 for Mercedes after a long 7-month lay-off. Verstappen is third and Sainz is fourth as the practice sessions are complete. Good News. Haas' Magnussen finished ninth. The Ferraris finished 10th and 12th, Leclerc, Vettel respectively.

Benz looked a LOT better than last year, but it's supposed to be hot on race day which killed them last year.


Racing Point looked like the 4th place team, although Ricciardo did well for Renault as well.

Mercedes have pulled ahead a bit, but the rest of the pack is a lot closer. More contenders for the top 4 mean points will be tough to come by in this competition this year.

That being said, I'm gambling right off the bat. Verstappen qualified 3rd on a different strategy and Red Bulls have had great race pace here the last 2 years.

F1 ruled there is no violation so it will be interesting to see how fast Red Bull installs it.

And that Mercedes could be one of the best liveries in F1 history.

I was impressed how strong the McLaren looked. Next year in the hands of Danny Ric and with Merc power should make it a 4 way race up front. And Racing Point may make it 5. Unless Ferrari continues to fall apart...

So glad to have live sport to watch.

They went ahead and punished Lewis for the yellow in Quali so he started fifth and then again slapped him with 5 sec penalty for not giving Albon enough room when the Red bull was about to swamp him around the outside.

Final, completely unpredictable, top 4:
BOT (no one will convince me the "Critical chassis 21" wasn't a team order call - that he ignored)
LEC (what a calm, measured drive)
NOR (They gotta be licking their lips at getting that Merc engine. Great job from the kid.)
HAM (Mercedes are probably kicking themselves for not getting him past Bottas. Valterri would still have won, but Lewis may have held the podium place).

If Seb keeps going dumb shit like he did today, would Ferrari send him packing early? Gio could move to the red car and Pascal Wehrlein could take over the Alfa. Or maybe just grab Nico Hulkenberg for the rest of the races.

Yep, Bottas took the win followed by LeClerc, Norris, and Hamilton. Verstappen finished dead last. Mercedes is going to get a few things corrected for next week's race in the same place.

Glitches and fuck ups aside Hamilton wins.

When the sensor call came in Bottas was a sitting duck.

Way to go Norris!
