My question is, who do we take snaps from to get Doctson on the field?? IF we were going to take a WR, this was my 1B, liked Treadwell just as much. And I get it for the long term outlook of the team. I just dont see who we take play time away from to get him on the field. So honestly who goes?? Garcon or Jackson?

DJ stretches the field and comes out frequently after long bursts. You also take some away from PG and put in four WR sets.

love this kid and it's gonna hurt a little being a season ticket holder at TCU for the last 5 seasons.

should be a solid NFL receiver

Agreed! Big XII fan as I am have watched a lot of TCU action as well and I always thought he'll be a hellava player in NFL. Now I would've been fine getting my boy Sterling SHepard a little later but He was BPA to the skins and I'm cool with the pick as he was a beast for the horned frogs

Are you speculating on who should or could get cut or traded sometime this yea among PG and Djax?

Competition will take care of who gets how much playing time.

Initially, probably neither much. But as the season goes on, we can count on DJax to miss games due to injuries so there will be snaps there. My guess is there is going to be snaps available for this guy if he is as good as advertised. By the end of the year, it should be apparent which one of these WRs we want to keep for next ear and which one do we let walk.

I like the pick. There is still a slew of Defensive studs on the board so we can pick up our DL or ILB with the next pick. But a talent like Doctson will not still be on the board win the late second.

WR snap count percentages last season:

PG-75%
DJ- 33%
Crowder- 68%
Grant- 42%
Roberts-24%

There are plenty of snaps Doctson can take especially those inside the red zone.

As for who we keep next season, or try to keep. We will want to keep DJ but will keep both if we can. PG would get much less if he stays.

Cowboys fan here and weekly watcher of Doctson at TCU. You guys just got an absolute stud. He put up video game numbers against every team he faced even though they tried everything they could to shut him down. Double teams, bumping him at the line... didn't matter. You will love how he goes up and gets the ball. Fantastic hands, solid speed, but just a big play guy who can really light it up. Cousins is going to love him.

Thanks for this post. So another Dez? Nice. Great pick for the long term. I wanted a great defensive player, also liked Kelly but knew Indy would take him, so now we have a replacement when Pierre's deal gets too expensive. We've seen what a great WR can do in todays pass happy NFL and anytime you get the chance to grab a guy like this you have to hop on it.

Looks like for once everyone is in agreement here.

Dallas passes on a great corner to take a RB nobody will ever confuse with Emmitt Smith. That was way too high for a RB. Giants lost out on the pass rusher they really needed and of course we saw what a trainwreck the Philly situation is. So Cleveland, they take a receiver who can't catch or run patterns, SF trades a 2, 4 & 6 to take a guard they could have gotten in the 2nd. Houston gives us a future pick to take a WR who isn't as good as our guy and we walk away with the most complete WR in the draft, the big true #1 we have been searching for since Art Monk.

I really didn't want a WR but with the DL sliding I love this pick more and more.

Well I wanted a def player but was prepared for the Skins to go in the opposite direction b/c of the abundancy of DEF talent in this draft. So we select Doctson from nearby Mansfield Tx. I think he replaces Garcon b/c Doctson is really a good possession and red zone threat something we really lack.

This is a pick for the future for sure but the next thing I thought of was already mentioned here earlier. You can anticipate DJax missing some time and we saw how our offense stalled when he was out. Now we have a player to fill that role, maybe not to his level right now but it won't be the huge drop off we saw last year.

Short term, I think Doctson gives us another red zone option to accompany Reed. He will have opportunities within the offense between the 20s as well but the red zone is his current key.

Long term, I think they resign Reed and DJ. He will never be DJ because he is a totally different player. You have to shade a safety over the top on DJ because there isn't a single CB that can run with DJ. This will free up Doctson to go against single coverage because nobody can cover Reed one on one. That doesn't even mention Crowder.

I think going forward everyone agrees this move is to replace Pierre, not DJax. You are right, with Jackson, Doctson (assuming he lives up to expectation), Reed and Crowder man that's a good group.
