well i cant see any pick coming up that will change that . my disappointment in this draft is we didnt get butler or johnson .

however we did get some good players

Barry runs a one gap system. Every guy DL and LB has a gap they are responsible for. We did not play that well in the 1st half of the season. Got better with Compton and Foster but just got our thingamajigs handed to us against Green Bay.

Think about that GB game though. It wasn't the DL that was getting abused. It was PS and we didn't tackle well at the LB/DB level. We have sured that up dramatically.

I actually agree. Problem remains.. we got a bunch of good rotational/backup D-lineman.... and aside from Baker.. no real starters.

Go back and look at Reyes' first two seasons. There was hope there.

Not sure what the value chart reads but it seems to me going from the 4th to the 5th and picking up a future 5th isn't worth all the negative reactions. More picks for our guy the better, remember?

Yeah but the replacements played as well or better. Same with ILB, an area I hope they address next draft. Mason and Foster were certainly better than Robinson and Riley but they are nowhere close to good enough. Run defense is not the DL, it's mostly the linebackers.

when the line sucks and cant keep O-lineman from getting to the second level to put blocks on the LB's... the entire unit looks like used baby butt covers.

Based on our draft, either SM and JG thought the problem was not really the DL or they thought these DL in this draft were horribly overrated. I would think it is a combination of both.

well you cant fix every need in one draft . i think we got a few more good pieces but to those who dont get it this team still needs to build more to get to where we want to be

Will be interesting. But I will hedge a bet and say that quite a few of the D-lineman we passed on should be in the talks for DROY at the end of the year. And if you seriously believe that NONE of the D-lineman taken in the 1st, 2nd or 3rd round would be better than the likes of Peae and Reyes..... I call bull shit on that.

Aside from depth, we didnt really fix ANY needs in this draft though. We were drafting as if we only needed depth and football players, when we did and kind of still do need a couple of starter upgrades.

Look at the d linemen scouting reports, it's hard to be comfortable with drafting any of them early

Actally I was fine with the Doctson pick in round one. I likely would have taken a D-lineman in round two. And you can say it would have been a reach based on how the e draft turned out. BUt I think Robinson or Reed would have been a better pick than the tweener LB/SS that we havent even decided what we will do with him yet.


Like I said, in a bubble, if you totally ignore the roster, all of our picks have been good. But at some point you have got to consider what you need. We apparently didnt take need into account until all the true starters were off the board.

Oh I agree with you, there is no doubt several DL in this draft are better than what we have. That's not the issue. The issue is were those DL the best players available when it was our turn. You seem to think it doesn't matter that there were better players available with such a need. Our GM doesn't think this way.
