Just kinda curious what people think about his magazine. Picked one up today and I almost feel like I need some kind of special training to understand his shit. Tons of stats which I love, but seriously I don't even know what some of them mean!

I like all the stats. I usually don't read the 1st 20 sentences of each topic because I really don't need to know about what happened in 1941. I exaggerate of course. But I don't see what going back 3 or 4 years has to do with this season.

It seems he is pretty confident in Nebraska this year. And despite his stats showing us getting worse in every defensive category the past two seasons, thinks our d will be pretty good.

our D got worse in 2010 because of the loss of Suh...straight up.

our D got worse in 2011 because of the loss of our whole secondary outside of Dennard and that slow white kid who sucked but played cause he was a good leader (Cassidy)

our D will be much improved this year. top-20 nationally

Totally agree top 20 nationally. The two department's I REALLY want to see improvements go hand in hand. Sacks and Turnovers. The sacks went down dramatically the past two years and turnovers went with it. Long story short our front four is not putting pressure on the offense. You can blame lack of depth and talent in the secondary but it all starts up front. If our big boys disrupt the offense it only opens up more opportunities to cause a fumble or cause a bad pass for the secondary to snag.

word is that the reason we has so few sacks last year is that our Line had to play contain because the secondary sucked so much. so they weren't allowed to go after the QB so much

For some reason I thought we had been running contain up front he past couple seasons. I could be wrong though.

DEs always play contain in Bo's D

idk what coach he learned it from... Maybe when he was in the NFL??

Anyway hardly any NFL teams run a two gap. It's prehistoric and ineffective.

These days you need to buy yourself an elite pass rusher who can come off the edge and get to the quarterback in 2.3 secs. Not dance around on the outside playing grab ass with the tackle.

The reason it worked so well with suh is that we generated our pass rush through the middle which would either result in a sack from crick or suh... Or it would flush the quarterback right into the waiting arms of the DE who's playing contain.

As you saw especially last year when you don't have any pass rush coming from the tackle spot... Your D-line is pretty much stagnant.

I think with the influx of LB, DE talent and the BIG DT's we have brought in.. We just might be able to switch to a 3-4.

Avery moss or McMullen could possibly play some OLB

NU was ranked 64th in rushing defense last year. 34th in pass efficiency defense.

Hurry the QB all you want, but if you can't stop the run first and make your opponent one dimensional, you're fucked.

NU got shoved around last season.

That being said, NU has bulked up this year so those numbers should improve.
