The event will be held Thanksgiving weekend — from Nov. 23-26, in 2017 — in Portland, Ore. Games will be played at Rose Quarter’s Moda Center and Veterans Memorial Coliseum. Two 8 team tourmaments

The participating teams are Arkansas, Butler, Connecticut, Duke, Florida, Georgetown, Gonzaga, Michigan State, North Carolina, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, Portland, Portland State, Stanford and Texas.

This is just awesome. What a field. If I had to guess the 8 teams would be broken down as follows:

Field A:

Scheduling conflicts arose with Kentucky, Arizona and Nova. Arizona and Nova are already scheduled to participate in the Battle 4 Atlantis. The 2017 Battle 4 Atlantis field looks to be very very strong.

Do the winners of each Field play each other in a Championship game??? Guess I could look it up - but thought i'd ask.

They won't set the brackets until 2017, but each school is guaranteed 3 games with a consolation bracket. That's about all we know right now. I doubt seriously that uNC and Duke could even have a chance to meet in a preseason tournament though.

Looks like there will be two brackets and no the winners will not play each other. NCAA rule is that max of 2 teams per conference can play in pre conf/season tournaments and they will split off the 2 conference members.

My thought would be that they don't have a championship between the winners of the 8-team brackets.
