I'm really surprised Bruce Miller isn't in the top 5 FBs. A running game this good tends to have a really good FB.

Pretty impressive that we don't have one guy in the worst category.

I'm a little surprised not to see Gore in the top 5 as so far this season it's the best I've seen him run in years.

And it's pretty funny to see all but one of the Cardinals O line make the bottom 5. It just blows my mind they signed Synder to be a starter and drafted Floyd to be a #2 WR when their offensive line was in complete shambles.

Sickness isn't going to like Wilfork being graded so low. Good thing we didn't trade for him eh?

A lot of those are shockers for me. I'm really surprised about the Safeties. Malcolm Jenins is one of my favorite players :(

He's their 7th ranked FB right now. He's .3 overall behind Erik Lorig for the 6th spot and .2 ahead of Greg Jones, John Kuhn, and Rhett Ellison. What hurts him in their rankings is that he is 1 of 5 FBs, out of 27 with a grade, who have a negative grade in the receiving category. He's 4th worst. He's tied for 2nd in the running category and 5th in blocking.

Why does he get a negative grade? He has 2 catches for 24 yards on 3 targets according to ESPN, that isn't so bad.

To take this further. He's played in 200 snaps. He's ran the ball 3 times, ran a pass route 59 times, has blocked in the run game 124 times, and stayed in to block a rusher 14 times.

I like how two of my least favorite players made the worst lists. Snyder and Lawson.

The Cardinals did this all to themselves. How many seasons have they neglected their oline? How does that front office stay employed? INSANE. I wonder where Colledge is rated.

Oops! I had the wrong filter on when I gave you his position ranking. Here is where he actually stands based on all the snaps (I only had some of the snaps filter on):

He's their 9th ranked FB right now (not 7th). He IS .3 overall behind Erik Lorig for the 6th spot and .2 ahead of Greg Jones, John Kuhn, and Rhett Ellison like I originally said. He IS still 1 of 5 FBs, out of 27 with a grade, who have a negative grade in the receiving category. He's 5th worst in that category (not 4th like I said). He is STILL tied for 2nd in the running category but is actually 7th in blocking (not 5th like I said).

He's tied for 30th out of 114 in their guard rankings. He has a positive overall grade, positive pass block grade, a -0.7 run block grade, and has been called for 2 penalties. They have him responsible for 1 sack (tied for 27th most), 2 QB hits (tied for 26th most), and 11 QB hurries (tied for 6th most).

This might be more helpful. Out of all the guards who have played in AT LEAST 75% of their team's snaps (46), this is where he ranks:

Tied for 24th overall grade (positive).
Tied for 24th in pass blocking grade (positive).
29th in run blocking grade (-0.7 grade).
Tied for 19th most in sacks (1 sack)
Tied for 19th most in QB hits (2 hits)
5th most in QB hurries (11 hits)

"Worst
1. Janoris Jenkins"

Interesting on Jenkins- I know he gets picked on with Finnegan on the other side, but he didn't look bad in the Rams games I've watched this season.

"Worst
1. Janoris Jenkins"

Interesting on Jenkins- I know he gets picked on with Finnegan on the other side, but he didn't look bad in the Rams games I've watched this season.

It's an interesting subject because their snaps and targets are fairly equal so far. Finnegan has played in 9 more total defensive snaps but has dropped into coverage 6 fewer times.

Finnegan has been thrown at 57 times. Allowed 40 receptions for 358 yards (9.0 avg), 158 YAC, 0 TDs/3 INTs, 3 PDs, with a 64.8 QB rating in his coverage area.

Jenkins has been thrown at 61 times (4 more than Finnegan). Allowed 40 receptions (same as Finnegan) for 499 yards (12.5 avg), 167 YAC, 5 TDs/1 INT, 8 PDs, with a 111.3 QB rating in his coverage area.

Again, that doesn't tell a great story because I can't tell you how many times each man has covered each particular receiver in every game, but for whatever reason they have been targeted about the same number of times in about the same number of coverage chances. My guess in that defense is that Finnegan has been asked to cover the number 1 WR more often, but I can't say that for sure without doing more work. I'm not sure if I could accurately find that either.

Interesting "Worst" ILB as well. And Eric Berry... I haven't seen him play much but I know last year pre injury he was playing alright. Think the injury is playing a part in that?

Interesting Pozz- thanks. I know he got lit up in the Green Bay game (I believe that was where he gave up 3 of the 5 TD's he's surrendered this year), so that would skew the numbers a bit.

No Gore for top 5????????

lunacy!

10th overall and 6th in the running category. The most interesting thing I thought I saw so far this year in Gore, and ended up later confirming it through everybody's numbers, is Gore is making guys miss better this year than he has the last two years. Not necessarily by running through guys but his footwork has been outstanding this year. In that regard he looks like he did at Miami.
