According to the "Sports Alert" scroll on the bottom of the TV screen on NESN Sports Network, Peyton Manning Plans to Return in 2015.

I will be the first to apologize for reading a column and posting it, stating the Manning may retire and buy an interest in an NFL team.

It appears that Manning wants to go out on his own terms. I tip my cap to Peyton Manning.

Let's see how the post-season ends. If he plays particularly bad he could change his mind. If he plays well enough, win or lose, I think he could be back.

It happens...Every year from here on out Manning and even Brady are going to have rumors about them retiring. Brady not as much since he didn't have the 4 neck surgeries but any time either of them play bad the rumors will fly. I don't doubt that maybe someday Peyton will want to be an owner but I can just about promise it won't be right after he retires from the NFL. He just doesn't have the money to even become a small owner in a franchise. I think at most he could get about 5% of a franchise and that just won't sit with him. My guess is he takes the Elway way of things and lays low for a bit after his career is over and then maybe comes back in the GM/VP type position working to maybe eventually take over as head honcho.

I'm not sure how this is news to anyone. He has repeatedly said he wants to play through until the end of his contract. That would be next year and the year after. I can see how a major injury would change his mind, but so far we've seen no indication of such a thing, despite how hard some people are looking. I can also see how winning a Super Bowl and leaving the game on top would appeal to him. But even that is a stretch because it is at odds with what Manning himself has repeatedly said.

Still, I appreciate the thread, BK. Hope you had an awesome Christmas. If it was half as good as mine then it must have been pretty darn good.

I had a feeling he'd be back unless we totally fell apart this year. He just loves the game too much, and IMO has enough left in him to finish out his deal here. Still have the big goal in mind for this year of course, but it's encouraging to know he'll be back again next year. I think we all know he's been somewhat off his game the past few weeks, but I'll damn sure be smiling about knowing he'll be our QB again next year.

Thanks, at my age watching the grandchildren enjoy what Santa brought them is the greatest joy. Can't ask or get anything more..........That, and just making it to another Christmas. Happy and Safe New Year to you and yours.

Not only that, but Manning agreed with Tom Brady when Brady said that he wants to keep playing until he sucks. Peyton said he feels that way too, so he might play even longer than his contract. It could be awhile before his play declines dramatically. I wouldn't be surprised if he plays 3 or 4 more years, which would be great news for the Broncos. He makes the whole team better because he's like a coach on the field.
