So Peter King sat down with Manning and Elway recently and came out with an article titled something like "6 things you didn't know about Peyton Manning." Here are the 6 things...
1) Peyton since his surgery back in 2011 hasn't had feeling in the fingertips of his right hand. Doctor doesn't think he will ever regain feeling in them.
2) He traces the fall of his season last year to getting some sickness from his daughter before the San Diego game. He spent the entire night before the game throwing up and was completely dehydrated. He then took a wrong step to his right and something in his right thigh went bad and just never got right the rest of the year. Because of that he has changed up his diet for this year and also started his off season training much earlier than in the past to prepare for this season.
3) John Elway hated having to ask Peyton for a pay cut this year. Being a part of the QB fraternity it was one of the harder things to do then to go ask another QB of Peyton's stature to take a pay cut. One of the few times I have really read that the business side of things was very difficult for Elway.
4) Before taking the pay cut Manning went and spoke with Derek Jeter since he had a similar situation at the end of his career.
5) The OL might not be as set as we think. The Broncos still have some major concerns about the unit they have formed and there is a chance that the Broncos are going to actually do some trading or looking on the waiver wire before the season starts. Good chance that the guys we have on this team right now that somebody not on this roster takes one of the 53 spots.
6) The Broncos will likely do the Romo thing this year of giving Manning every Wednesday off during the season.
Now my thoughts on these is actually many of these are ones I already knew. I knew feeling in his fingers was iffy at best. It is why the glove was something he was willing to try. We also knew that he got sick and something happened to his thigh during the Chargers game. I think we also know that the OL has been the biggest question mark of the season. I still think though that they like the starters they have right now as they have shown more than I think most thought they would up to this point. I could see them going out and getting somebody to take one of the back up roles especially on the Guard/Center area of the team.
