I warned them that 8 games was a stretch and the Sun Bowl might be out of reach.

I have many USC friends living down here and they all thought that somehow losing Barkley and Woods was going to make them better

Am I the one that said Kiffin wouldn't last more than 3 years at USC? Let me go dig and see if I can find that post.

Kiffen is to USC as Shula was to Bama, he's only there to get them through the sanctions.

only question at this point is does he make it through the season?

Yes. I don't think it matters how bad they are. The sanctions will prevent them from changing HC's. It will be far easier at the end of the year. Any perspective HC will know their is only one year left of the sanctions and that SC can rebuild and fully reload very quickly.

Shenanigans have consequences and USC is showing how much scholarship reductions really do hurt. Kiffin sucks and USC has no depth. This is going to be a long season for the boys of troy.

Good question. It's going to be interesting to see what happens. He could be leading a revitalized Tennessee powerhouse right now. :kidding:

NC State came close to losing to Richmond(FCS) last night. Pulled out the win right at the end. 23-21

I told them USC'ers that they have no clue how the probation and scholly limits will imact them but they all tried to tell me they're USC. They had that first good year and said "see." I said the penalties haven't even begun to affect them. They will shadow them until around 2016 or 2017. They will have signs of decency but overall struggle. I found this article and think Kiffin might want to create another binder! :laugh3:

When the NCAA's enforcement hammer fell on Southern California football two years ago, coach Lane Kiffin brought a binder — maybe 4 inches thick, athletics director Pat Haden recalls — to a meeting on how to handle the sanctions.

The outlook was grim. The Trojans faced a two-year bowl ban, losses of 30 scholarships over a three-year period (10 fewer per year) and a limit of 75 total scholarships, 10 fewer than the maximum.

But inside the binder was a detailed plan the coach hoped would somehow cushion the blow. Kiffin had spent several days poring over the USC roster, planning how best to manage the talent on hand and forecasting how best to recruit within the limits.

"Lane has done a fantastic job of having a plan," Haden said, "and visualizing how he's gonna get through it."

Oh yea and having Lane Kiffin as your coach just makes it harder. Add a few years to that 2016-2017 prediction!

They truly might just keep Kiffin through the entire sanction period, and then dump him after it is all over. Because maybe a coach doesn't want to come in to where he has literally no schollies to offer out.

I had predicted at this time last year that this would be Kiffin's last year. He may not even make it through the season.
