why are we comparing cooke to lappy? cooke is a coward and a scumbag. laperierre is one of the most respected 4th liners in the league. carcillo and laperierre are both 4th liners.

i would not even compare carcillo to cooke. both get pretty annoying and everything although for his size, carcillo is one of the better fighters in the league.

yes...but he's a TALENTED coward and scumbag. actually, i don't rank him as a coward (very close) because he took his beating after the savard hit. he went out and fought, consequently getting his arse beaten. no one else will agree with it, and understandably so, but this is great for the pens.

Cooke fought 6 times this year, why is everyone calling him a coward. I am sure he does what he can to piss people off but I don't think a coward drops the gloves 6 times in a season. Especially considering it is not his "job" to fight.

The Pens have around 8 million left, I would offer Volchenkov around 4.5mil cap hit, and Michalek around 3 million cap hit.

Rely on Tangradi and use depth on the 4th line, Letesteu played well on the 3rd line in the playoffs.

Two players that provide the same game as compared to one? Roster spots on the top team don't come cheap. Cooke sells out to block shots a la Lappy, and he muck and grinds with the best of them on the boards, a la Carcillo, along with being a coward... a la carcillo. I'd rather the pens have that type of player combined into one, which they do in Cooke.

IMO, of all the Penguins players, I think Fleury probably makes more than what he's really worth. A $5.0 million dollar cap hit per season for very average stats. He's a number #1 pick, and he's had his fair share of fine moments, but he's also got two, possibly three of the twenty best centers in the game playing in front of him.

You just lost all credibility. Carcillo a coward? Please explain. He fights EVERYONE and he's small. He's has a bad temper and has a lot of issues controlling it, but by no means is Carcillo a coward. If you're trying to say that you have 1 player that is as effective as 2...again you're wrong. Cooke doesnt have half the heart that Lappy has. Cooke is a pussy, thats it. He's just a big mouthed pussy that hides whenever approached, oh and he has little spurts of offense every once in awhile.

I guess the cap got raised, and the Pens have around 10 million in cap space. Tangradi's contract was already included. The Pens cap situation actually works out beautifully. They should go after two solid defenseman this year. Rely on Tangradi and "audition" other rookies on the 3rd/4th line. Because next year, if the Pens sign two solid defenseman this year, the defense will be already signed, and the only crop of players to be FAs our the 3rd and 4th liners. And this year, the Pens should be playing these rookies to see who they like for next season and beyond and to see what FA for the next year they should resign. The Pens are in very good cap shape until two seasons, 2013-2014 and 2014-2015. Not that they won't be in good cap shape, but everyone's contract will be up.

One of those two defenseman will be a Penguin. I hope they approach both, move Malkin to the wing, and rely on the 3rd line depth (for one position). They are in the position to nail down a solid defense for the next 3-4 yrs.
