Top 3 centers currently out:
Penguins center Mark Letestu hobbled off the ice during the team's morning skate at Madison Square Garden because of an apparent knee inury that could be significant. He will not play tonight against the New York Rangers.
Letestu left the locker room on crutches. Coach Dan Bylsma said he will be evaluated when the team returns to Pittsburgh.
Bylsma did not know now the injury happened because it did not occur during a drill. He speculated that Letestu might have hit a rut in the ice.
Letestu had been filling in for Sidney Crosby on a line between Chris Kunitz and Pascal Dupuis. That center position tonight will be filled by Dustin Jeffrey, who had previously been summoned from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton as insurance because Crosby (concussion) and Evgeni Malkin (sinus infection) are out.
