Wasn't he one of the Pens leading scorers in the playoffs? I thought he was a good addition for them.

He was injured for a while, but I like what he brought especially for the price

JA, a lot of good points...BUT, Godard is NEVER going to be resigned. Pointless space occupier with the scrappy guys we have on the team. Plenty of guys capable of dropping the mitts. Also, Dupuis isn't worth 2 million. He rarely produces more than the likes of Rupp, so I don't see why he's worth a million more. Money is tight-ish, so I really think signing our younger depth guys is of utmost importance. Jeffrey, maybe Conner and a few of the other 2-way contract guys. Also, Despres will most certainly be in the AHL/NHL next season. Probably starts the season in the AHL and gets a call up in the winter. I really think the Pens will end up trading the rights of TK away and dropping one of our D though (just because of the overall price). I think trading Nisky and then picking up one cheaper option may be good. Regardless: In Shero We Trust.

Yes, and I think he's versatile and can play both 3rd and 4th lines. Maybe I'm wrong - what line did he usually play on?

3rd and 4th, and for a while there, 2nd.

Honestly, I'd rather Asham than Dupuis...but Asham will be making more than his league minimum salary of last year. Apparently Talbot wants a 4 year deal (in Talbots words: "HA. HAHAHAHA."), Dupuis wants 3 (Shero is a 2 year type guy...especially once players eclipse 30), and Rupper wants 2 but at a higher price. Seems like those 3 and TK are Shero's focus at the moment.

He was lights out in the playoffs, as was Craig effin Adams! :D

I'm really glad that Shero got him resigned. He's a very valuable piece to the Pittsburgh penalty kill, plus his overall grinding ability on the fourth line is fairly valuable. D

On a different note, eloco... did you lose a bet? What's with the hypocycloids? LoL!

I can't wait until the Pens extend Brent Johnson, because this commercial is timeless...

I don't see Godard being resigned, but it would also not surprise me if he was... only because the Pens play in the Atlantic...

Regarding Dupper... 2 mil is a bit high, but he'll get near 2 mil... 17 goals compared to Rupp's 9 should almost double his salary. He was at 1.4 mil last yr, and I can not see him a getting a descrease in salary after netting 17goals. He plays on all three lines and PKs...

TK... you know, I have no idea what will happen with this guy... I don't know what the Pens would get in return for his rigths, and I'm not sure what GM will trade a pick for his rights.. the Pens would be better suited seeing what offers come in, and match if they feel it's worth it, if not let him go and perhaps get a draft pick that way... TK and Pens will be doing the waiting game waltz all summer.

All other RFA will be resigned (Jeffery, Haddad and Thiessen)

UFAs... up to Shero... out of Connor (he's 28, not young), Craig, Wallace, Sterling, Curry, Hutchinson, Wagner and Potter, some will be resigned (on two ways of course) for depth in the AHL...

I just can not imagine Shero trading any of the defenseman, defensive depth is the key to the Pens success, and trading away a defenseman just does not make sense to me.

I honestly don't mind Nisky's play to salary ratio. The 7 signed defenseman average a salary of 2.5 million. I don't think that is over paying for defense. Also, Nisky makes 1.5 and Depres makes 870K... only a 700K difference... I would pay that extra 700K for an experienced defensman like Nisky... I realy do not want to go into the season with the 5,6,7 defenseman as Lovejoy, Engelland and Despres (rookie). I really think Nisky will be a stabilizing presence as the #5.

We shall see what Shero does... I enjoy these types of off season questions compared to what big name FA to bring in...
