Scotchy Scotch Scotch!
as you are about to win your franchises 5th Stanley Cup... Does the excitement still resonate in you or is it becoming just expected and that feeling of "oh, yes another please?"

I'm mostly in jest as you know, but I believe fully the pens will win again. I'm really curious on how one feels for winning again or is the pain of losing it strong or weak. I'll only know the loss being a Canucks fan
Remembering the 80s, when even with Lemieux the Penguins still finished fifth in their division most years, or lost to the Flyers in the playoffs. And the lean years at the start of the century. No watching your team win does not get old.
If Pittsburgh can not figure out Nashville's defense, they will not win this year.
There were 6 teams in the Patrick Division during the 80s so it was even worse than that

Yeah but the Pens normally finished 5th.

The Devils were bad too, but I would still bet that the Pens finished 6th more times than they did in the 80s.
Going back in looking at it since my memory is like Holtby's goaltending in the postseason.
1980 3rd in the Norris out of 5
1981 4th in the Patrick out of 5
1982 6th in the Patrick out of 6 every year from here to the end of the decade was 6 teams in the Patrick
1983 6th
1984 6th
1985 5th
1986 5th
1987 6th
1988 2nd Beat the Rangers in 4 Lost to the Flyers in 7
1989 5th
1990 5th in the entire NHL won the cup 1st in the Patrick
1991 6th in the entire NHL won the cup 3rd in the Patrick
I guess they did finish 6th more than 5th 4-3 in the decade
I am 100% sure Montreal fans can confirm this timeline........I hate to be that guy but something is off here. Edmonton won in 1990 and then Pittsburgh won in 1991 and 1992. I'm really not sure either way about all of those years in the 80s but maybe you are going by the calendar year in which the season began?

It's cautiously optimistic excitement for me. I picked us to lose to the Caps and was pleasantly surprised by the series win. (sorry Eloco) The conclusion of that series was the first time I audibly said, "I think we are going to win the cup this year." However, Nashville is a very good team with a very good and equally hot goaltender, so all bets are off.as you are about to win your franchises 5th Stanley Cup... This, except I never want PK to win a cup.Losing won't suck this year for me. I wasn't expecting a repeat once Letang went down. Everything they do is gravy now.
Plus, I kind of want PK to get a Cup.
But I'm still going to cheer for the Pens, obviously, all that said.
I don't understand the hate for PK. For the next two weeks, he's the antichrist, that goes without saying. This, except I never want PK to win a cup.
I take a different look at last nights game...if the Pred's can't win that one, they have no hope...
