Per Paul Dehner Jr, the Bengals have reached an extension with Peko.

Depending on the money, this is a good sign. Cheer the F up! So what, we are not out wasting 50 million on a player who is going to come here and be a bust like other teams enjoy doing during FA.

Michael Johnson had 3.5 sacks last year, and was making 11 million. He signed a big time contract with TB. If I was a TB fan, I would be upset we just signed a 3.5 sack guy for $44 million. Collins on the other hand, if I didn't know him, I would be pissed about his contract too seeing what he has done. However, I have watched Collins and they got a good deal with Collins in my opinion.

Atkins is recovering, and may be back healthy enough for the season opener.

Gilberry only plays 3rd downs because that is all they gave him to do with Johnson and Dunlap on the ends. Plus, we had Peko and Atkins. With Atkins injury last year, Gilberry played much more than just 3rd downs. Plus, I like Thompson. Not Still, but Thompson seems like he is starting to come on a bit.

DL is a little worse without Michael Johnson, but not so much so we need to worry about it.

He is not an every down lineman. He is a 1st and 2nd down lineman with Gilberry spelling him on 3rd down to ensure Kramer thinks he is the defensive MVP. If he played more than 3rd down, he would suck like everyone else.

Michael Johnson basically played every down. He was an important piece of a great unit for two straight years. He's not easily replaced by a guy that is more interesting for his story than his performance.

Gilberry has been great for us, but he's better when they move him around the line.

I have not seen anything that says he can't either. He is still a mystery to me. He just didn't play enough to really know IMO.

They took him because he was a project with all the physical tools. We knew he was raw, but his bull rush looks like one of the best in the NFL. He just needs to refine his only move and learn at least one more. He has the strength and speed to be a good DE.
