This show is really fucking weird and gives zero fucks. I think that's exactly what DC needs to embrace. They clearly can't figure out how to handle their properties in a serious/realistic tone, so just go bat shit and let people enjoy the ride.

The opening credits appropriately lowered my expectations. I think I might actually like this.

I will continue to watch, because it it sooooo light hearted, it can be very relaxing viewing.

the opening credits are perfect for this show. It sets the tone right where it needs to be.

I don’t know that this tone can cross over to other properties, though. It is basically The Tick, but less serious.

Can you imagine Batman in this tone?




OK, as I wrote that, I realized how stupid it was, but I had to leave it in as evidence of my thought process. This show is an homage to the original Batman TV show. Maybe it could work as a universe? But can it work “long term”?

This show is amazing. Cena blew as Peacemaker in SS but damn he redeemed himself. I never read Peacemaker, is there a backstory into his dad being a racist or are they literally just doing the I don’t give a fuck because it is pretty much a old school Batman series meets All in the Family meets 90’s Cinemax

I haven’t read any of the source either, but from what I have gathered from some wikis, his dad in the books was a Nazi concentration camp commandant. I think Peacemaker does what he does to make up for his family’s past, but he was raised by a jackass, so he became a jackass. So he does batshit crazy evil stuff, but all for the right reasons.

His D&D alignment would be Chaotic Good.

Too much character development imho. The first 3 eps were pure dumb humor, and it worked perfectly. Now, in ep 4, they decide to get all up in their feels?

I guess the show needs some of this to work long term, but it was not what I liked about the show.

I watch it in full every episode and I actually pay more attention to it than I do to actual episode.

I'm enjoying it and am liking the character development they have going on. Peacemaker is obviously fucked up in some way that makes him how he is...gives him depth.

Love the humor, love where it's going. Gunn is just doing what he does best.

And dammit, John Cena is solid in this role.
