So I know I'm a bit behind here but somebody want to explain that illegal formation penalty on Buffalo on third down in the first quarter? They called Seantrel Henderson for not being lined up on the line of scrimmage. He definitely wasn't on the line, but the other tackle and both guards weren't either. They were lined up just like every other team lines up their guards and tackles in the shotgun. For reference ( and I know this is a different game):

Like I said every team does this, and the Bills have been lining up the exact same way all game. But that one play gets called?

They give them a little leeway sometimes but he was pretty much already turned to pass protect that edge.

I don't know that Amendola would have gone too much farther. The DB peeled off the play when he heard the whistle.... which was when the ball was in the air... fwiw.

That should be a penalty too by the Eagles' left tackle. You can't line up that far off the line. It isn't consistently called because the refs don't look for it, but when it's obvious and they see it, they call it.

Well yeah, that's pretty clear. You could call it on any play where the offense is in shotgun on an obvious passing down.









All four of those look like pretty obvious penalties to me ( just grabbed those from Googling "nfl shotgun"). The tackles are off the LOS. I guess I don't have proof there wasn't a flag on all of these plays but I have yet to see that called this season. Pausing the play in this game it looked like maybe Henderson's foot was slightly behind the other tackle's, but I guess I don't get the point of throwing the flag on one guy leaning back an extra three inches when both tackles are already a full yard off the line.
