Chukwu, a 7-foot-2 center, will transfer to Syracuse after spending one year at Providence College.

Chukwu will have to sit out the 2015-16 season under NCAA rules regarding transfers. He will then have three years of eligibility remaining after that.
Chukwu's height, length and wingspan could make him a defensive force inside Syracuse's 2-3 zone.

"It's definitely one of the attractions,'' Chukwu said of playing in the middle of the 2-3 zone, "but I'm more focused on what they'll help me do offensively.''

Chukwu said the SU coaches talked to him about improving is offensive game, pointing to the remarkable improvement Rakeem Christmas made over the course of his career. Christmas averaged 2.8 points as a freshman, but led the Orange with 17.5 points per game as a senior this past season.

"They obviously have a great staff and coaches,'' Chukwu said.

the kid also had State and several others on his radar...was a good move for him to "stay local", imo...he'll do well playing a part of Syracuse's renaissance.

Yeah.....I think staying close to home was more the reason than anything.

SU's zone is a good option for his frame. But he needs to do some bulking up.
