As the wait for Sid's return lingers on longer and longer, my worry grows greater and greater. Now, I'm not someone who thinks "Aw, it's just a headache, he should suck it up and get back on the ice!" Far from it. I'm sure most of you all have seen one or two (or ten) of my concussion-rants before (because when you start learning far too much about them, you get touchy), and realize where I stand on that battle. So, it's not with impatience that I begin to worry, but rather through reading between the lines. **Disclaimer: This could be because of the high profile situation** Soon after learning of Sid's concussion we were given a time-table, one which has come and gone, and that wasn't surprising to me. However, soon after THAT we were told that there would be no daily updates until Sid returned to practice. Then the worry grows, because that clearly means he's still symptomatic. Then, the rumor spreads that his return is unlikely until after the All-Star Break (which is FEBRUARY FIRST). That is 2 more weeks away. Now, usually it's hard to put any type of time table out for concussions because the healing time varies from player to player...but plain and simple: if he's still 2 weeks out, then he's still having fairly consistent/significant headaches. And if that's the case, well Pens fans, brace yourself, because we're gonna be holding our breath every time he gets hit.

I think the rule is no hockey until a week after symptoms go away. Then he'll need a couple practices to be sure that he's ready. I heard he's still getting symptoms, so after the All Star break might be right on.

Most importantly, it doesn't sound like we'll have Sid at the All Star Game, seriously decreasing the chances of having the East win such an iconic game.

as I'm sure pix knows, once the c-word is said, it's a week for the baseline tests automatically. But as we've passed that, yeah the sliding timetable can be pretty worrisome. that was two solid knocks in a row, so if the first one wasn't diagnosed (suck it up, play through, etc), the 2nd one could have done more damage. We saw that with Willie Mitchell last year (dirty Malkin hit)... there was deadline after deadline pushed back, for far longer than any of us thought. ended up costing him the season.

and as I'm sure AJ knows, the allstar game isn't east v. west anymore :)

as far as concussions, I can say first hand that I had one. Got rocked pretty good during a sparring session last year. I had a headache that would come and go for 2 weeks, felt lethargic and my neck was really sore. Didn't train for a month. I can't imagine taking a blow like that.

Lol. I really didn't. I don't remember the last time I watched it. Are we back to NA v World?

What rock have YOU been under? Hahaha. I'm not a big fan of the actual game either (love the skills comp though, really see the players personalities shine), but you gotta admit the picking players thing will be interesting.

All the players thrown into a pot, those players nominate a captain and 2 A's per team, those players pick teams. Old school street hockey.
