This sounds like they're trying to scapegoat Jeremy Ross for Sundays loss. It was a team loss and Rogers' two INT's were just as much to blame as was Ross' fumble.

excerpt~

The Packers continued to use Jeremy Ross on kick returns and on offense after he fumbled a kickoff early in Sunday's 34-30 loss at Cincinnati. But they won't use him anymore.

On Monday, the Packers released Ross.

Ross misplayed a kickoff in the first quarter by failing to recognize that the ball wouldn't reach the end zone, where he was lined up. As soon as he got to the ball, he fumbled it. The Bengals recovered at the Packers' 2-yard line and scored on the next play.

I agreed with Ross, the sun did get him, as you can see in the slow motion up close replay that the glare on his visor was extreme. But whatever the Packers want to do. If they feel they need a scapegoat, I guess that is the way it goes.

I would too. That play is inexcusable, especially if it's his only job.

hard to tell...

I remember a guy here who fumbled whole games away who's doing very well as p.mannings #4 receiver, we tried to make him a #2 receiver, that didn't work.

Someone said that you could see the wind affect the ball as well. I guess just before he goes to catch it the ball shifts due to a solid gust of wind? I don't think the TV caught that, but he was at the game down close, and said everyone around him could see it.

But it pisses me off that people call our win an upset as if the Bengals had no chance of winning. And it appears the Packers believe the same thing by using Ross' drop as an excuse as to why they loss. The fact is Green Bay lost to a team that has one of the best rosters in the NFL. A team that was good enough to win in spite of suspect play-calling and QB play. The Bengals didn't upset the Packers, they beat the Packers!

A returners entire job is to catch the ball. Returning it is a bonus, but letting a kickoff lay on the turf is grounds for a cut even if you win 100-0

I agree with this.... Who the fuck cares about the sun? Deal with it. That play gave the Bengals a touchdown.... And its not the first time the kid had difficulty with returns. Plenty of great athletes on the street waiting for their chance.

They coughed up the win on a mistake, but you still need to protect the ball against us, we don't suck THAT BAD. Without that fumble, it would have been a different game, but they didn't put us away like we sometimes fail to put inferior teams away, what we did was good enough to win given the opportunity and that's what happened.

AR prob made the call to axe him. Dude is a wolf in sheep's clothing. You can tell how he looks to throw someone, anyone under the bus when they lose.

Rodgers took blame for the loss and stated that he did not blame well in press conference.

Ross was cut because he now had 3 fumbles as returner in 8 games, all leading to short fields and TD's, fumble in preseason to boot, and made poor decisions in first 2 games of year coming out of end zone so Packers started inside of 10 yard line on 2 occasion (when his up may told him to take a knee).

He has one career reception... he is not on the team for his WR skills.

I had this as a loss in my Packers season pool... I actually have Packers starting 3-3 and then getting on roll to finish 11-5. Front end of our schedule is difficult and Bengals at Cincy is tough game for anyone.

I was surprised Packers could run as well as they did vs your front 7.

Two teams were pretty evenly matched... game came down to turnovers. Bengals turned their TOs into TDs, Packers turned most of their TOs into FGs.

Hopefully Packers can get on the roll I expect... but injuries are really mounting up now, hopefully get most back for Lions in 2 weeks. You probably hope we have all back for Ravens in 3 weeks.

One of our front 7 is on vacation with his millions of dollars (Atkins)

One of our linebackers would rather be a thug than do his job (Burfict).

Hopefully Zimmer gets through to these guys.

Not trying to start shit here but what kind of pussy slaps another man in the nuts? As stated Ross wasn't let go because of the Bengals game, his downfall started in the playoffs last year and snowballed into the Bengals game. He couldn't get any separation as a wr and couldn't secure the ball on returns as well as too much hesitation on returns. Too many fumbles that led to too many TD's for the other team. His average starting field position was the 17 yard line. Not acceptable at all.
