So what is the 17th game? First place vs second place? First vs first interconference and so on?

However, here's my idea


Buffalo/Seattle....the northernmost teams in the country
Baltimore/Washington...the Potomac rivalry
Dallas/Houston....Texas
Philadelphia/Pittsburgh...Pennsylvania
LAC/LAR....LA rivalry
SF/LV....the Bay area rivalry (even if Raiders are no longer Bay area)
Chicago/Indianapolis...the state-next-door/midwest rivalry
Jacksonville and Miami vs TB...the Florida rivalries.
NO/Car/Atl alternating vs Tennessee (the southern rivalry)
NYG/NYJ.....the NJ rivalry

Others have no serious connection but paired based on history like GB/KC (first SB). And others lumped together based on specific seasons.

Possibly the main pairs could just play each other twice in a year if they play their divisions but the home/road scheduling would be confusing.
