It's time to sell the team to Mark Cuban. Then we will win.

Seattle Mariners owner Yamauchi dies at age 85 - Mariners News - MyNorthwest.com

I wonder how this will effect the team and if the new owner will make winning the main goal. Or if it's the same old same old, or if they decide it's time to sell the team. :noidea:

I thought I had read somewhere that Yamauchi has a son-in-law in line to take over ownership of the team. Personally, I hope not because that could mean more of the same ol crap we've seen over the last 12 years.

Sad to hear of his passing. Although maybe this will mean new ownership. RIP Yamauchi.

If that's true, hopefully the in-law will be more interested in what happens to the team.

From what I've read, and feel free to take it with a grain of salt because it came from a random person on Facebook commenting on the Mariners' announcement of Mr. Yamauchi's death, Minoru, if that's the name of his son-in-law, could be taking over the team. This person also said that part of the reason Mr. Yamauchi bought the team was that Minoru is a huge baseball nut. If that's the case, then maybe he'll be a more hands-on owner (assuming he takes over ownership of the team) than Mr. Yamauchi was.

I'm not overly concerned about that right now, though. I'm sure we'll find out what's going to happen sooner rather than later. For now, R.I.P., Mr. Yamauchi... thank you for Nintendo and for buying the Seattle Mariners and keeping them in Seattle when so many buyers of sports franchises would have moved the team under similar circumstances.

In 2004, he put his shares in trust and upon his passing the team control is now owned by Nintendo North America. He was still considered the owner of the team because he was the CEO of Nintendo and still ran the team. So, it's now up to Nintendo to decide what they want to do with the team.

The part about Minoru being a "huge baseball nut" SOUNDS good...

I guess there's only one sure way to find out.

That IS interesting! Now I have this urge to see if someone has an image of those old playing cards on Google or something.

I do find it fun to find out about certain companies how they started out and it really is not what we think of today. Like Macys was more of a Walmart when it started out
