Stanford- less than mediocre coaching staff. Head coach is suppose to specialize in offense yet I have seen him make some of the worst offensive coaching decisions I have ever seen in my life. No real threat on defense, and they lose Luck who was the only positive for their offense. If Luck wasn't their last year, Stanford would have been just another team and it will be proven this year.

Florida State- everyone started them in the top 10 last year and they never even looked close to that level, so they throw them back up there again?? They didn't even end the year strong last year. Everyone keeps ranking them off of recruiting classes, shouldn't work that way you never know how players will turn up or how they will work together.

Notre Dame- hardly worth mentioning, this is just a formality pretty much.

West Virginia- their rankings seems based mostly on one game, other than the Orange bowl last year they were hardly a top 25 team, they should have been able to take care of business and sweep through the Big East if they expect to be competitive in the Big 12, yet they lost a game to Louisville and had an inexcusable blowout loss to Syracuse, even Tulane and Rhode Island put up better fights against Syracuse. Plus teams tend to struggle in their first year in a new conference.

Michigan- Overrated last year, and as demonstrated in the "Big Ten Returners" thread on the Nebraska board, they are actually losing more production than most of the B1G. The fact that they are the conference favorite is mind-boggling.

I'm gonna say Georgia and INB4 Godwags "you just hate UGA".

I've seen them ranked as high as #5 and are favored to win the East and some say they can win the SEC title. This is the same Georgia squad who had 1 win vs a ranked opponent last season, gave up 28 pts to Vandy, and didn't have to play LSU or Bama in the regular season.

With the early season suspensions, I think UGA loses at least 2 out of the games vs Mizzou, Florida, and South Carolina. With as easy as their schedule is anything less than a trip to Atlanta should be seen as a failure.

You must not have seen very many of my posts about they hype surrounding UGA for 2012. While your analysis is weak and doesn't really touch on the true reasons of concern for Georgia, I agree in that they are over rated.

Well, none of the "analysis" in this thread is in depth and I didn't feel I needed to write an article on the subject. I know you're replacing a starting center, 2 starting offensive tackles and both you punter and kicker among other players.

Of course saying a team is over rated before the season even starts is about as much of a guessing game as a peseason poll itself, but going by ESPN's Top 25, in my opinion the following teams are over rated...

USC, Barkley looks good but I don't buy the extreme hype he's getting. There defense ain't that great, and I don't see them drastically improving.

Alabama, yeah there offense will be just as good - maybe better, but they lose nearly their entire defense... however, it is hard to doubt a Saban defense regardless of experience.

Oregon, like Saban's defense, it is hard to doubt Kelly's offense, but they lose some key players and like USC their defense isn't anything special.

Oklahoma, I'm borderline on them being over rated. They should be improved on both sides of the ball (and they need it on defense), but I think 4 is a little high.

Georgia, defense should be just as good, but the offense is a big question with the loss of some key blockers. 3 O-linemen and TE Orson Charles.

FSU, shit they're over rated every year.

Michigan, we'll find out when they play Bama, but they do have some of the keys needed.

Michigan State, lost their QB but the defense should still be great. I don't think the D will be able to make up for the offense though.

Kansas State, it's K State for God's sake.

Texas, ND and Florida should not be anywhere near the Top 25.

Well, I just went somewhat in depth and it's not 2 OT's, it's a OT & OG - along with the center as you said. Also, our leading receiver (Mitchell) will be moving to CB & probably won't play much offense if any. Orson Charles will be playing on Sundays now, as will Brandon Boykin.

But yeah, with all the hype some want to give UGA, none of them seem to mention the O-line.

They got a lot of lucky breaks last year, they likely won't get those this year.

Can't speak for Oregon, but everyone knows how much we rotate players on defense. Yes, we lost 3 tremendous leaders in Hightower, Upshaw, and Barron, but almost every player on our defense this year has significant playing time. Unlike 2010, where we weren't quite as fortunate. :peace:

Michigan. They had like 146 total yards of offense in the Sugar Bowl, had the the refs give them the game, and didn't really beat anyone that impressively... I'm not sure where that means you're mandated top 7

FSU - dey back, as per usual.

And then Florida, Notre Dame who may win 6 games this year, and Stanford

Texas for one simple reason they don't have a clear cut #1 QB. One would think with all the talent in Texas they would be able to find one. Then again Andrew Luck went to Stanford. Drew Brees went to Purdue. I guess Mack Brown has a hard time finding the NFL starting QB's in the state.

Yeah but they did have Andrew Luck. No one is expecting that much from them this year, at least compared to last year. A great QB can make a difference and that's why Stanford was very good last year. This year, maybe not so.

Phil Steele has Florida St ranked number1 in his preseason ratings.
West Virginia is hard to figure. I've seen them in the top 10 in one magazine, but I suspect they'll be out of the top 25 by the end of the season.

I think they'll finish in the top 20. I've seen some rank them as high as number 5.
