I guess the graduate assistants turned them down. Stupid giving the job to a guy that isn't coached in college for years and has zero recruiting experience.

Really wasn't impressed with Detroit's special teams last year. Ross was a non factor and the decision to stick with a rookie kicker out of camp cost Detroit.

If the Lions rehired Kwan to coach special teams they would just feel like hiring another special teams coach in 20 minutes!

Chips were totally caught in a lurch w their previous HC quitting on them 2 weeks ago to take OC gig at Arkansas. New guy has never been a HC but he's a grad and he comes from the NFL. I guess they could have done worse for such short notice.

Incredible that a Chip went no.1 in the draft. I guess that didn't help bud the program.

Lions hire Joe Marciano as special teams coordinator | ProFootballTalk

The 60-year-old Marciano has a long history as an NFL special teams coach, having coached the special teams in New Orleans, Tampa Bay and Houston for a total of 28 seasons. He was fired along with most of the Texans staff after the 2013 season and spent 2014 assisting with the Vikings’ special teams, assuming coordinator duties while Mike Priefer served a suspension.
