BGE didnt run it as good as Monday...We need Scott in the game to offset this and give a different look on offense....

Scott back will be huge and will help to keep both fresh...

I thought he did OK. But I still don't understand why the Bengals limit Brian Leonard. The guy does it all when given the chance... but like Baby Hawk, they won't give him the opportunities until they have to.

Brian Leanord's big fault was that he became a blocker for an up and coming running back at Rutgers by the name of Ray Rice.

It is kinda like no team willing to give Dede Dorsey a chance, including us. Must have been something messed up with that dude personality wise, or attitude wise, because he did nothing but produce when on the field no matter where he was at..college, special teams in the NFL, backup running back, and in the AFL or whatever it is called, led his league in rushing.

I never understood that either, but some guys get pigeoned holed and that basically defines their career.

The fear surrounding de de was that he was injury prone. Marvin talked about it on "hard knocks"
After he left the NFL, he's been under contract with UFL and Arena teams, so it would appear he's moved on from his NFL dreams. He WAS given a shot with both Indy and Detroit though, so I don't think its quite real that he was "never" given a shot.

You think Cedric Peerman will ever be given a shot at a starting job? I don't. However, he seems to do nothing but make plays when on the field. Some guys are just pigeoned holed into a certain role, and Dorsey was labeled the 3rd down back and special teamer. Kinda like what poor Brian Leonard is being labeled.

When it came time for cuts, Dorsey became a luxury so to keep from cutting an area of need, there he goes. I still think Dorsey could be every bit if not better than Benard Scott. Oh well, neither is here nor there now.

There is no pigeon-holing. Leonard is not a 3-down back. He's not even a 2-down back - not a consistent between the tackles runner. He's a one-dimensional specialist 3rd down back who comes in on 3rd down for packages that do not include the feature back or one of the backups. It's as simple as that.

Dorsey would never last as the feature back. Ever. Could he get a spot as a 3rd down back? Sure, but there are a lot of those kind of guys in the league. Maybe he wasn't smart enough or couldn't get the playbook down that he was let go in place of someone else. He was not pigeon-holed.

End of the day, it's a dime a dozen position.

Peerman never really makes big plays on offense that I can tell that would warrant him any time as a starter. He's quite a hustler on special teams and that keeps skill players from getting injured. Not sure how many years we can justify keeping a guy because he "hustles on special teams" though.

Run blocking is the same as last year. A joke. Only way a RB gets yards with this line is put Barry Sanders back there.

Special teams (particularly coverage teams) have become a strength of this team. I'm happy keeping Peerman and Skuta to play special teams. I don't like them playing outside of special teams, but they are the least of our concerns.

Apparently 31 other coaches didn't like the dude either.

Spaz much? Shesh. Dorsey did not suck. Maybe he was not a full time back, maybe he was injury prone (although I do not remember him being injured any really), maybe he tires too quick, maybe this or that, but fact remains, when he got a chance to play, he played well. He played well enough to be rewarded with more than he was, which was a fat out release.

I like Peerman, but no, I don't think he is a starting caliber running back. Leonard I think can be a quality backup part time starting RB.

Scott seems to go down too easy. Why I like Green-Ellis and Leonard.

This is the NFL -- If teams don't want you, they release you. If other teams do want you, they sign you. There is no middle ground - No plaque for the alternates. This is starting to sound like Top Gun - I apologize.
