Well lets see.

So far we have

1. Fired 85-90% of the coaches (check)

2. Solidified our GM who is not known to be a personnel guru as the final say in all matters draft and free agency (check)

3. Confirmed that we have no idea currently what direction we will head in on offense or defense. (check)

time to put on your crash helmets, and tighten up the seatbelt another notch gents.... this is about to become a wild ride off season again. Any one working at Dulles who can fill us in on the flight plans for redskins One?? :)

Its interesting how Allen couched this change. Basically, he said he is taking over responsibility for player personnel decisions. Under him will be a scouting department (Morocco Brown and others) that will now have a greater voice in player acquisition.

So this implies that Shanahan didn't really listen to the scouting department during his tenure and did his own thing.

Allen may be OK as the GM as long as he isn't just the yes man for Dan. He recognizes that he is not a player evaluator and will hire and utilize those that are. This is what a good manager does. I'll reserve judgment until I see how this actually plays out. We should know once the FA period opens.

we wont know until we see the product on the field . a new coach and system will change our perception of needs

a generic start would be fix the LOS . we have 2 guys , williams on offense , cofield on defense

If you listen or read between the lines, it sounds like Brown may get a promotion and the scouting department may get a bit of a restructure under Brown. Allen said he and Dan like the work they are doing to recognize talent and how can you deny that since guys like Morris & Reed were likely targeted by the scouting department. I'm sure they do their due diligence with FA's as well.

Sadly we will have to wait until March to see if this new system is in title only. We have cap space and lots of needs. But if our free agent visit list looks like the top ten of the top ten free agents list.......

Well you know where im headed with that.

If they are under 28 and we are signing them because they are the hot name and not because they have a specific fit, then it will be no different. Adam Archuletta was under 28. Haynesworth was 27 when we signed him. If we do free agency based off of name and not actual fit into a system we are putting into place, I expect the same results.

Side note, dont be shocked if we end up trading up into the first round in the draft.

It's not necessarily who we go after, it's how we go after them and how much we pay. If we just throw money around without letting the market value be set, then we are back to the old ways. But if we make a fair offer and not be afraid to let them test the market, then Allen will be exerting influence.

LBF I will give you. But with Danny and his chosen GM running things, we missed on about 80% of our free agents or trades. So forgive me if I dont attribute Mikes picks to Dan. And neither of those guys were big name picks. If Snyder was running things, we would have signed Vincent Jackson. And I say that even knowing i was hoping we would get him. But Garcon has turned out to be just as good for less money.

Dad... if you havent realized yet, all Snyder cares about is the big flashy moves. Beyond that he is more than willing to leave it to his minions. Garcon grabbed no headlines. A second round draft pick, simply wont excite him. But when they made the trade for RG3, he was like a peacock in a room full of hens. So no Mike wasnt a lap dog. But I do believe Snyder was the driving force behind the RG3 move, period. I dont think Mike wanted to make the move, but he did it when Dan made a point of it. And I fully expect if Dan had his way, we would have kept the cap screwed and gone after a few big names even after the RG3 trade.

Dont know that I agree about Dan pushing Mike for the trade.....As I have said...Mike Needed RGIII...Needed a franchise Qb after his abysmil Beck, grossman, Mcnabb fiasco...saw him there and had to do it!!! No way Dan was pushing Mike to do anything that way...mike had that Iron clad contract and would have been annoucing to the world that Dan had gone against it......would have at the time, and would have when all the "leaks" were coming out....

I realize, you are not a fan of Dan becasue of his past....dont think he can change...well....maybe after all those losing seasons, he actually wisened up.....I believe he idd as he said and took a back seat.....

Now as you have said...when FA comes around we will see, but I dont believe Mike did anything he didnt want to do....NO WAY NO HOW.....He was the BIG MAN regarding the Moves the Skins Made...He was fully responsible for everything, and THAT ultimately was his DOWNFALL!!!

Sorry bro, but Mike didnt NEED RG3, and Im starting to really believe he didnt WANT RG3 either. Dan needed him, and the fan base sort of needed some one. But the RG3 trade, and the McNabb trade for that matter both go totally against Shanahans nature when it comes to trades. I know you want to believe that Mike was the sole reason this all went to crap, because to believe otherwise might be just too depressing. But Mike Shanahan had never traded up for a QB, and the last thing he would have really wanted was an option style QB with no training from under center.

So ask yourself honestly, what was more likely. The Coach who never trades up giving up a boat load of picks for a QB that actually doesnt fit his system to begin with. Or an owner who is a media star player whore pushing for the trade and the coach rolling with it??

By the way, if Dan has wised up, he would have brought in a real GM with personnel experience instead of making Allen basically Vinny 2.0. He had a clear oppertunity to fix what has really been wrong with this franchise, and instead we are keeping the same model that brought us such great moves as Albert Haynesworth and Adam Archuletta.
