In parts of China, they do that for traffic offenses.
if you are speeding or whatever, the cops will make you stand at a traffic circle and direct cars for a while.

a hell of a deterrent.

my son had no super bad experiences reffing/lining hockey this season. On the whole its been an easy ride for him the past couple years and he actually likes it and hes quite good at it. Level headed and great problem solving and decision making experience.

The only meh experience he had this past season was when he was lining a game with a younger ref who was indecisive. I walked into the arena with 5 minutes left in the 3rd period and I could tell stuff had gone bad as some dads from the road team that were in the corner of the arena were yelling/muttering swear words. I asked them what happened and they then detailed their list of grievances and bad calls (i asked one of grandpas if he went by the name dash  ). My son then skated in to corner dot to drop the puck for a faceoff caught my eye and then rolled his eyes and mouthed the words "this is a shitshow" and those dads said to me "see that kid knows! ... why the hell isnt he reffing this game" lol

/he's reffing/lining 4 morning spring hockey games tomorrow ... 2016's ... $35 per game ... easy money for a 14 year old ... shit where was that when i was a kid

I reffed soccer and hockey for the town I grew up in. As part of the sign up process, the parents had to sign an acknowledgement that complaining too much would result in an automatic forfeit for their team.

The year that went into effect for the soccer league, one of the other officials called a game around the 2nd or 3rd week, which is when people realized the rule wasn't just a threat.

A week or two later a parent tried to sneak around to the other team's sideline and complain hoping we'd give his team the win. Dude was apparently such a dick that his own team's parents ratted him out to me and I called the forfeit right.

League gave him the option of not attending any more games for the rest of the year or to auto-forfeit every game he showed up for (he was allowed to pick up and drop off). He chose the latter, presumably to keep the other parents from burning his house down.

He also made the league newsletter. Astonishingly, there were no more major issues after that.

to be clear, the rules to get 10 points in 30 seconds were as follows
- 10 points for a 3-pt range
- 3 points for from the free throw line
- 1 point for a layup.
