my kid is in Les Miserables in her school play, and was commenting on how it's neat that sad lyrics go with upbeat music.
I started singing some Smiths to show her how it was done "Girlfriend in a Coma".

very early on I got her to appreciate Sabbath via Faeries Wear Boots.

The Smiths is a bit of a hard sell, if I'm honest. Some of it she likes (Panic, Vicar in a TuTu), some of it she's like "Oh Jesus GET OVER IT" (How soon is now, The boy with a thorn in his side).

Thanks to an obsession with Stranger Things, my youngest has started to listen to REM, the Smiths and INXS. And she asked for checkered Vans. She also found my box of old BMX T-shirts that she wears sometimes. My JAMS don't fit her though.

Mrs 43 is distraught. All those efforts to get her into Def Leppard and Motley Crue (and wearing jean jackets) she's going my way.

I've only been able to get mine into They Might Be Giants and Weird Al.
