OT: The Open Championship

The Open is in Muirfield in Scotland. Never know what to think of it. It's the coolest golf tournament in many ways - back to the roots of golf - but it's so lousy for television compared to the American tournaments. All the holes kinda look the same.

Anyway, anxious to see what Tiger does today.

Johnson & Johnson leading out of the gate today. Wind is calm. Going to be some good scores today. Birdies can be made on these greens if you can get there clean.

Tiger got himself out-of-the-gate without being in trouble. That's a change from his play in Majors the last couple years. I think he is going to be in the mix on Sunday. That would be exciting.

And Shiv Kapur (?), a golfer from India, carded birdies on 6 of the first 7 holes today. That's crazy. He's still on the course right now, but only a stroke off the lead.

Kind of shocking what has happened to his game. He has about the prettiest swing I can remember seeing the in last 20 years. Hope he figures it out.

As much as I'm not a fan of the World Leader, their coverage has been FANTASTIC. Good transitions coming back from commercials about Scotland, great slo mo shots of crazy sand blasts. They are on top of it.

Tiger did enough to stay in the hunt today - may actually end up higher in the standings by just staying even. It looks like there are going to be even fewer below par rounds today.

Lee Westwood hit a ball 400 yards down the middle of the fairway this morning... and it ended up in a bunker I'm sure he had no idea he could reach. Talk about your nice rolls.

I count only about 10 guys under par today. That's pretty crazy.

That said, I really don't understand the complaining about the course. Everyone has to play the same course, so if you feel a hole or two is unfair - it's going to be that way for everybody.

Tiger 1 off the lead...very exciting for the weekend.
