Depending which Android you have, you possibly can.

They don't always advertise it as a feature, but there's usually a combination of buttons that will do it.

I think it's a built-in in Android 4.0 too, but not 100% on that.

I've seen some people post funny texts, funny auto-corrects, etc. on Facebook and the like. That's the only reason I can think of.
