did I hear that correctly? the first time in 91 years at the Giro that the lead changed on the final day.

I wouldn't be surprised, Grand Tours are almost always sewn up a stage or two before the end.

I want to believe he's clean. But at that level, the whole sport is so damn tainted. Not just by dopers, but by people who want to frame those who don't dope.

A great win, nonetheless.

Canada has one spot open for cycling at the London Olympics. Already there is considrable talk about giving that spot to Ryder. Also curious that Dick Pound has been noticeably quiet on Ryder's historic win yesterday.

Ryder wasn't already a shoe-in? Weird.

There is one Canadian cycling beast that I am hoping recovers in time for London, Tory Nyhaug.

Although with the way Sam Willoughby rolled at the World Championships last week... Not sure it will matter. Friggin Aussies.

another BC boy, Svein Tuft ... 2008,9,10,11 Cdn National Time trial champion... also defending Cdn National road race champion

7th at the 2008 Beijing Olympics in the time trial

9th in yesterdays final Giro stage time trial ... 13 seconds behind Ryders time

Ryders not a lock ... although Im guessing he would kill to be on an olympic team and change history (ie his 2004 Olympic cc mountain bike ride where he was a medal favorite and ended up with a flat tire 5 mins into the race)

More cycling news:

Schleck gets yellow jersey for 2010 Tour after Contador's DQ

I laughed at the following:

"It is not the same as to take the jersey on a podium in the tour, you don't have the podium girls, everything around is different," Schleck said.

/Does Ryder move up to 5th place now in the 2010 Tour de France?

Martin caused the crash when he caught his wheel on a drain cover and went down strongly on his right arm, bringing down several of his Garmin-Sharp teammates.

I hate when that happens. It's worse in group rides. Usually takes about 20-25 people down.
