Also, the NL Central is more wide open than Lindsay Lohan's legs right now.

The N.L. MVP tested positive for PEDS you say. What a shock. I honestly believe there are so many guys cheating in professional sport that it would put the industry in front of congress & they would enforce Olympic style testing. I think it's that bad.

And the Pirates aren't taking advantage. Yet.

There's a pitcher in the Japanese market the Pirates are supposedly interested in. Chen. I guess they're predicting 4 years, $20 million, which the Pirates are likely willing to pay. Scouts say he'd be worth it. If they land him, having already landed Bedard on a really nice deal, I think the rotation could actually be better than it was last year.

Angels' first baseman Morales may also be available now that they've signed Pujols, as well. He'd be very worth taking a shot at. I think we'd be the second best team in the division, behind the Reds, if we land Morales and Chen, the Cardinals can't fill the void left by Pujols, and the Brewers lose Fielder.

I still think the Reds were a fluke. We do need another pitcher, then it's really just 1B left. I would love Lee to stay, his numbers in the Central are pretty great. But, there are a few other options out there now. Our catching situation is interesting too. Basically going into the season with two backups.

Barajas is about on par with Snyder, in fact basically the same player, so he's a starter. Barmes is better defensively than Cedeno, by a little bit, and a lot more consistent, but the offense is a wash. Bedard is better in 100 innings than Maholm in 200, so that's an upgrade, especially if he stays healthy. Regardless of other moves, a platoon of Jones and Evans is better than Overbay, so that's an upgrade, though bringing back Lee or getting Morales (I prefer the latter for durability issues) is a bigger upgrade.

So far, the Pirates are better this year than last year. McLouth is a better fourth outfielder than Diaz, at least defensively, and probably offensively, and Presley is better than Jones so far, so our outfield has also improved. The bullpen should be strong.

However, the Reds are more than a fluke. They have a lot of really good young talent, especially in their rotation. Right now, they're the team to beat in the Central.

Also, I hate Ryan Braun, so good.
