Sad news. He was a great host. Jeopardy will never be the same. But will continue.

Hopefully they did have a contingency plan for this.

I'm sure they do. Like someone else mentioned, Ken Jennings. That's the name that seems to be mentioned the most as a replacement.

Damn. Well, I'll bet this is a damper for some people, especially those who received most of their education from that show. I'm sure the silence will be noticed

RIP Alex Trebek
Shit for the misspelling but this one did take me for a second to want to write. But After my dad got sick and was on oxygen. He didn’t do much, that last year early in ‘99 I would stop over and watch Jeopardy with him 2 to 3 times a week.
Sucks so bad because I can only feel this was an institution that brought a lot of Parents and children together in our generation.

RIP Alex

He was a pretty big part of my childhood. My grandparents and uncle lived nest door to me and for years each night I would go over and watch Jeopardy with them.

Alex Trebek was the standard. He was Jeopardy: perfectly matched the tone and purpose of the show, exactly the right blend of serious quiz host and savage wit. Committed himself to nailing pronunciations, making himself appear an expert on the quiz categories while somehow also being transparently just the messenger. High brow, but accessible. And a genuinely decent person.

RIP

My mom just mentioned something weird - Sean Connery and Alex Trebek died within a week of each other.

Probably some good Celebrity Jeopardy going on up there.

I think one thing our divided nation can come together on is that Ken Jennings is the only man that can continue the tradition of hosting Jeopardy in a way that would make Alex proud.
