I saw that twitter account thing before I saw the "Big Ears Teddy" in the article, so I was super confused...just super creepy. Again: if that's what gets your rocks off, have at it ya little weirdo you...but when the other person doesn't consent to that and isn't okay with it? Yeah, that's called r*pe.

Jian did a really good job at getting out ahead of this one. He framed the debate as "fired for kinky sexual habits" and a lot of people ate it up. But now that some more details (and more accusers) have surfaced it's hard to see anybody giving him the benefit of the doubt.

It's also prompted a lot of discussion on the topic, especially "he said she said" issues. One, the myth of the "nice guy, he couldn't have done that" argument, which has already gotten some CBC personalities and Canadian politicians in trouble, and two, the fear women have of accusing powerful men of abuse/assault. I'm sure that if only one woman had come forward she would have been demonized in the court of public opinion; in fact before the further revelations surfaced, that's exactly what was occurring.

I'm a little ashamed to say that when the story first broke, I read his Facebook and was sucked in. I like his show and he framed a convincing narrative. I'll try to be a little more wary next time, especially when the accused has the type of media pull that Ghomeshi does.

I believed his facebook post too. thought he was courageous to get in front of the story.

when so many similar and disturbing stories come out of the woodwork so soon afterwards (and some beforehand) it certainly paints another picture.
I haven't heard allegations of r*pe yet (well, until for #10 below), but a whole bunch of assault, sexual assault, harassment, and generally being a complete and utter asshole.

I'd take that post off of his facebook page with a grain of salt. It's posted by someone with basically nothing in their profile of any substance. It could all very well be true, but if it isn't, that's grounds for some major civil suit action.
