Speaking of babies, last week I came across a baby mouse in the parking lot of a movie theater. Looked like it had just been born. No mama around anywhere and it was clearly going to die, so I scooped him up and put him in a shady grassy spot so it could pass quietly instead of letting it burn to death on the pavement or get run over by a car.

I came across a squirrel years ago that clearly had a broken back. It was dragging around it's back legs, which were limp. I wanted to smash it to put it's out of it's misery b/c it seemed to be suffering/confused, but I couldn't do it. Still feel bad about it sometimes.
