Athletic talent comes more naturally to men, just a fact of nature. But with soccer, the game is much more enjoyable to watch. I just wish they got the same coverage and intense fan support. If they did it'd be ridiculous. Do the men have more athletic ability? Yes. But I still think the women's game is more fun to watch.

It is nice to not see all the diving. It's also some nice eye candy... but like you said, the intensity and build up for the mens tourney is just inspiring. As well as the depth of talent lacking worldwide like you said.

That's merely because the fans care more. As far as the product, it's the same, if not BETTER from the Women. That is, when good teams face off. Sadly there's just not enough great talent, and I think that has to do with women's status in other areas of the world, plenty of talent probably sitting at home birthing children, etc. because it's just not part of their culture. Personally, I think the women's game is faster. Which I like, because although it's often better if you slow the game down, it can get a bit boring while they play keep away. The biggest reason I enjoy the women's game more (other than being a woman and the US team being better than our men's) is because for the most part, they don't dive as much.

I'd like to disagree with you, but I can't.

the diving i saw from Brazil sunday was atrocious ... as womens rights grow and the perception of women involved in sport changes in countries that arent as foward thinking, youre gonna see those womens teams adopt the same "soccer culture" as that exhibited in the mens game by certain countries

I think P66 is right about the women's game having more "attacking" as well. They are going at the goal more often and the difference in talent between the top players and the worst player probably has a larger disparity than the men's game. This all equals more goals, more excitement. I'm not opposed to a solid 1-0 game, but often in men's soccer, it just kind of ends once it reaches that point. I think we've seen in the last two U.S. games that there is still more game to be played. And I find that MUCH more enjoyable than the men's game.

Good posts, Pix.

Yeah, I only know one. I'd feel bad about, but science doesn't really matter.

Good posts, Pix.

I think it has more to do with the mens soccer teams putting their "talismen" on defense. To generalize, defensive players in mens soccer can overmatch forwards with their physical advantage ... womens soccer doesnt have that if you ask me and you saw it on display today with Frances inability to mark effectively

Jeff is winning with Ceres and Pluto.

Ceres is in the main asteroid belt (perhaps why it took so long to discover despite how "close" it is to us).

They can partly overmatch them with that advantage because FIFA doesn't call obstruction EVER!! It's an important rule that keeps flow to the game. Reason #2 I'm tired of men's soccer. Obstruction prevents goals/flow and the diving is pathetic. Soccer at the professional level looks nothing like the game I grew up playing year round. It's pretty sad.

Yes, Eris is the farthest from the sun. It also has the most ridiculously elliptical orbit ever.

The other two sit between Pluto and Eris.

EDIT: 600!
