They are as productive in meetings as the US Congress and Senate.

And seriously on average have the second-largest salaries out of the Major 4. With the longest average career length out of the major 4 sports you would think it would be pretty easy to get a deal done.
Unfortunately there is nothing that is compelling to younger audiences for baseball, so both sides are just trying to hold on as long as they can.
