If I was in the Redwings farm system, I'd still have another 3 years to fine-tune my skills.

So 85.

I am precisely one day older than Mike Modano.

In three years, I will be myself.

i drank before i turned 21.

but even then after i turned 21 i had probably a 2 weeks span i was drunk most nights.

then i had my first encounter with tequila. it made me hate alcohol for a good 4 months and ran me straight out of the drink every chance you get phase.

a necessary evil.

my moment was after mixing gin and vodka in one night of binge drinking...I still get ill at the smell of gin, and to a lesser degree, the taste of vodka.

tequila has to be a good quality tequila...then there is much less chance of having a bad experience with it.

I blame my father for my aversion to ta-kill-ya.

My family went to Mexico for a vacation when I was 13. They had these little shooters called slammers, or poppers - tequila, tiny bit of 7-up, smack the shotglass on the table to fizz it up, and down the hatch. they were really fucking yummy. So, three beers, and six of these shooters later (yes, this was at a dinner with the family), i was feeling pretty darned good. walking home, stomping on the sea of cockroaches to hear the popping sound.

So I get home, feeling that I have passed the test into manhood. The next available night out, I get the bootlegger to pick up a 26er of tequila. The cheapest available, of course. Graduate from slammers to chugging from the bottle in the span of about 7 minutes. Next thing i know I wake up in a bathtub. I vaguely recall being in an elevator in a building the next town over, but still don't know why or how. None of my friends had a driver's license at the time. a LOT of years later, i still shudder at the smell of Tequila.

I had a bad tequila night early on too. We were at a friends house and bought sodas and some punch to mix with rum or whiskey. A friend of mine who was Greek and had to shave twice a day in High School looked a lot older and was sent to buy one of these with the money we all pitched in. He came back elated with two bottles of cheap tequila that he bought because they were on sale. it was awful but of course we drank a good bit anyhow. That stayed with me a long time.

After a long night of screw drivers almost 25 years ago I still cringe at the smell of them.

The first time I threw-up from drinking was after miking gin with something (I forgot). It hit me like a ton of bricks.

nice! when I was in the Army, we were on deployment to Louisiana for some training. Well it was my birthday weekend, went out with the boys and people bought me rounds of Tequila shots. don't remember riding the bus back to the barracks, but I do remember my LT waking me up and helping me clean up the puke all over in my bunk. I shudder at the smell as well.....
