First off, I have no children (that I know of), and fuck ManU, no son of mine would ever root for that shitty team. Good to know he is prepping his liver and kidneys early.

I'm not so sure about the cheering for a rival team part. Most of my family are Flyers fans. When I was a kid I decided to be an Islanders fan just to be different & PISS THEM OFF. The Islanders having Mike Bossy didn't hurt either.:D

yeah, my dad loved the Habs, and I picked Boston and Philly for some sort of rivalry.
we both hated the leafs from the get-go, though :biggrin1:

my first ever game I went to was in the 81/82 season. I believe the score was 8-1 Isles over the Canucks. Bossy, Smith, Trottier, Gillies, Potvin etc.... that was some team. I remember sitting in the Pacific Coliseum and just staring wide eyed at their team. I was always a Canucks fan but the Isles became my second favorite team back then. To note I was not torn at all at the Finals between those 2 teams it was simply the Canucks. but I did enjoy the Isles Cups in the other years :) but not as my own team just as a team I enjoyed watching.
