No problem Matty, it warrants his own thread. Not only a funny actor, but a great writer and director. I was a big fan of SCTV in the day.
I first think of him from Stripes. His straight-man to Murrays Joker was absolutely classic.
RIP
Sgt. Hulka: Ziskey?
Ziskey: I've always been kind of a pacifist. When I was a kid, my father told me, "Never hit anyone in anger, unless you're absolutely sure you can get away with it." I don't know what kind of soldier I'm gonna make, but I want you guys to know that if we ever get into real heavy combat... I'll be right behind you guys. Every step of the way.
Where is that subtle humor today? Instead we get Mellissa McCarthy and Will Farrell. Absolute trash.
Give me Stripes and Caddyshack (which he was behind as well) which are 1000X better than anything we get today.

I took a look at the movies he was behind (either as a writer or director)...
Animal House
Stripes
Caddyshack
Meatballs
Vacation
Ghostbusters
Back to School
Groundhog Day
Analyze This
That is simply amazing. Classics, every one of them.
Melissa McCarthy shtick has grown very old very fast for me. Will Farrell needs to change it up as well.
the humour of the old SCTV crew and SNL crew as they spread out is second to none.
Murphy in his glory
Ramis
Candy
Moranis
Martin
Levy
Flaherty
Belushi
Akroyd
man just such great stuff.
I guess people today just dont get the subtle humor like the delivery that Rodney Dangerfield, Ted Knight, and a gopher in Caddyshack had. Plus a scene where people think there is a turd in the pool. Quiet subtle stuff.
I feel Short changed looking at the above list.
When compared to the garbage that comes out today (again, I am primarily focusing on Farrell and McCarthy), that IS subtle.
As for the Baby Ruth gag in Caddy Shack, compare it to the pool scene in Grown Ups. Caddyshack told the whole story of the candy bar, even throwing in the Jaws theme, culminating in Murray's punch-line. Grownups just had a bunch of screaming kids with moron adults arguing with them. Granted, this gag was not exactly subtle, but it was delivered 1000X better than it's contemporary.
